But there’s vitality too, on the Arab-inflected “Fauda Blues” or a version of “Caravan” that dances over a Jackson Five bassline. There is a plangent, reflective feel to the opener, “Ephemeral”, that recurs on the title track and on a heartfelt “Don’t Explain”. “All the tracks were first takes – or the first take that went from start through to finish without a break,” says Collie. It was a snapshot of the moment – a record of what happened. But making it like that it gave more of a concert feel. “I was in there alone, which is a funny experience because you’re in your own head space there’s no one to talk to. In between takes, he turned on and off the cameras, documenting for later YouTube release. These are all killer features (OLNL has Lee Hi as his feature apparently, which is a weaker I guess but nobody really expects him to get to the finals). The ingredients were simple: a Yamaha grand piano an empty hall one session to wrap up the album with no more than three takes of any tune – and a good dollop of talent helped.Īlone in the hall in Sunbury-on-Thames, Terence Collie set up the mic’s, pressed the record button and proceeded to conjure the nine tunes that make up his new album, Reminiscent. All the damn contestants always go the hardest during the semi-finals stage as is the trend each season. Kid Milli could just walk over OLNL especially with that rumoured JUSTHIS feature. It would be a disgrace imo if pH-1 (with a Jay Park featuring) would get to the finals. I expected a collab between Nafla and Gaeko, as they already collabed before and that Gaeko is one of Nafla's favourite rappers (in an interview he and Loopy did with Nucksal and Don Mills for Hiphopplaya). I'm still rooting for Loopy (and Simon D) though, but that Bewhy feature is mega popular with Koreans and he might hard carry the thing. Only D.ark's stage was different and I think it has got to be my fav stage from Team Illibition this season despite D.ark losing.īut with the Bewhy feature next episode I'm assuming it's gonna be more different now. Saim Saim, Coogie's song, and now Superbee's song were very gimmicky and aren't *that* different stylistically. Might not be to the liking of many but I'm getting quite tired of Team Illibition's singing rap gimmick in this show now. I'd rather have every final performance be just him or Nafla instead of anyone else. the remainder of this season is going to be mediocre as hell.ĮK was the real winner* of SMTM777. I really wanted to believe in this season, but let's be real. pH-1 and OLNL get 2 performances with mediocre singing rap. The number of fangirls in the audience is going to play a part.ĭisappointed af with this season. Especially having Gray feature is basically an automatic win for the audience vote. its ridiculous that he was eliminated and that the audience vote wasn't even close.Īudience vote has been biased since season 1. EK has like 5+ different flows and styles. I just don't see how kid milli would be able to show anything new after this stage. it wasn't forced, it wasn't mediocre, it was dope. EK's stage was honestly the best performance i've seen this season in my opinion.
